Head is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Walk. Steven Trodges is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Trodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rock Head!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Head shoots in and gets a takedown into Trodges's guard.
Head scoring with punches to the head and body.
Trodges is trying to keep Head in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Head in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Head trying to control but Trodges is working from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Trodges preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Trodges looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Head has picked Trodges up and slammed him! Trodges can't keep hold of the triangle and Head manages to pass to side control!

Head is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Trodges has escaped the position, nice work there.
Head lands an elbow.

Head wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Trodges, who protects the arm well.
Trodges is looking for a sweep.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Trodges is trying to control Head's posture but Head avoids it.

Head is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Trodges is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Trodges manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Head lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Head looks gassed!

Head is working for a submission of some sort.
Head throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Head is nestled in close to Trodges, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Head wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trodges keeps working.
Head lands with a punch from half guard.
Head seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Head throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Head working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Trodges is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Head's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Head's back!

Trodges tries to keep control of the position but Head is staying busy.

Trodges doesn't have the hooks in and Head manages to turn into his guard.
Head passes into half guard.
Head is nestled in close to Trodges, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Head scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Trodges is looking to improve his position.
Head slips a nice elbow through Trodges's hands, connecting with Trodges's forehead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Head content to control rather than advance.
Head thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trodges's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rock Head dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Trodges enables Head to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Trodges manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Trodges had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Head defends it easily.
Trodges controls Head momentarily but Head frees himself.
Head slips nicely into half guard.
Head lands strikes from half guard.

Head is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Head is breathing heavily.
Trodges trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
A nice elbow there by Head.

Head connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Head lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Trodges hang on?
BOOM! Head connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Head is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Trodges is surviving well by controlling Head's body position as best he can.
Trodges keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Head lands a nice shot to the head.
Head has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Trodges bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Head is looking for a triangle but Trodges pushes his legs off easily.
Trodges stands and throws Head's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Head is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Trodges's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Head manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Trodges throws a series of punches but Head avoids them all with ease.
Trodges tries a low kick but Head avoids it.
Trodges fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Head.
Head missing with a left hand there. Trodges was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Head throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rock Head is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Head shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Head showed some decent athleticism there.

Trodges is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Head pulls his head out easily.
Trodges is trying to control but can't.
Head lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Head fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Trodges sprawls well initially but Head persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Head is trying to control. Trodges wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Head trying to control the action but Trodges is working from the bottom.

Head's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Head tries to lock up and control but Trodges gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Head is looking to get to half guard.
Head gets back to half guard.
Trodges prevents Head from standing back up.

Head looking for submissions off his back.

Trodges wants to work for an arm triangle but Head is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Head has one foot on Trodges's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Trodges avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Head.

Head is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Head is stalling here. Trodges is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Head seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Trodges has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Trodges advances to mount.
Trodges fails to advance to Head's back.
Head is trying to escape the mount.
Head tries to buck Trodges off but he can't manage it.
Steven Trodges has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rock Head is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Trodges looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Rock Head.
I've got Head winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
