The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin throws a right and a left that Goodman avoids nicely.
Goodman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Griffin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Goodman blocks a head kick by Griffin.
Griffin swings for the body but Goodman moves out of range.

and Griffin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Goodman's guard now.
Forrest Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Goodman.

Goodman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Griffin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goodman's guard.

Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Griffin stands up over Goodman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Goodman takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Goodman wants to control but Griffin postures up.
Griffin creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Griffin is trying to get an arm triangle but Goodman is defending well.
Goodman pushes Griffin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Griffin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Griffin has hold of Goodman's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Goodman tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Griffin cranks the arm and Goodman screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Goodman, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
