Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Forrest Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Goodman! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin throws a right and a left that Goodman avoids nicely. Goodman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Griffin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Goodman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Griffin counters with a one-two to the body. Jab by Griffin. Goodman blocks a head kick by Griffin.
Griffin swings for the body but Goodman moves out of range.

Goodman has his takedown stuffed and Griffin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Goodman's guard now. Forrest Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Goodman. Griffin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Griffin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Griffin looking to sit in guard and control but Goodman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Griffin seems keen to control Goodman's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Goodman wants a takedown but no success here.
Goodman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Goodman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Griffin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goodman's guard. Griffin postures up.
Goodman looks gassed! Griffin lands a couple of elbows. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Goodman's head. Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Griffin stands up over Goodman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Griffin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. A head kick misses from Griffin. Goodman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Griffin counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Goodman takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Goodman wants to control but Griffin postures up. Griffin creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Griffin is trying to get an arm triangle but Goodman is defending well. Goodman pushes Griffin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Griffin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin has hold of Goodman's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Goodman tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Griffin cranks the arm and Goodman screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Goodman, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
