Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Subbotin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Turchin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vladimir Subbotin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Turchin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Subbotin instigates a clinch.
Subbotin jumps guard but Turchin stands there with Subbotin around his waist. Subbotin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Subbotin jumps into guard, dragging Turchin to the mat.
Turchin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Turchin trying to control the position from guard on top but Subbotin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Turchin throws a big right hand that misses.
Subbotin keeping full guard, as Turchin tries to pass.
Subbotin keeping moving, preventing Turchin from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ivan Turchin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Subbotin shoots in but Turchin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Turchin holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladimir Subbotin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Turchin breaks the clinch.

and Subbotin counters with a shoot takedown. Turchin fights it but they end up in guard.
Turchin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turchin is on top in guard.
Subbotin striking off his back but it's not causing Turchin any problems.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Subbotin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Subbotin is striking but Turchin is not phased and passes to half guard.

Turchin is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Subbotin!
Subbotin has decided that throwing punches whilst being mounted is the best he can manage just now.
Turchin is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turchin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Subbotin is looking to escape.
Subbotin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Subbotin avoids a series of strikes thrown by Turchin.

Subbotin wants to control but Turchin is having none of it.
Turchin content just to control the position here.
Subbotin is in a horrible position here. Turchin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Subbotin is breathing heavily.
Subbotin wants to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Turchin is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Subbotin is bucking up trying to escape but Turchin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

It looks like Turchin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Turchin prevents Subbotin from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Turchin dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Turchin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Subbotin to the mat! Subbotin manages to get full guard.

Subbotin has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Turchin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Turchin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Subbotin.

Turchin gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Turchin has hold of one of Subbotin's legs. Subbotin is fighting the takedown attempt but Turchin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Subbotin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Subbotin wants to clinch but Turchin slips to the side

and Turchin moves into the clinch.
Turchin with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Turchin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Subbotin shoots and misses

and Turchin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Subbotin!
Turchin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Subbotin is looking to escape.
Subbotin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Turchin content just to control the position here.
Subbotin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Subbotin wants to control from the top but Turchin keeps moving.

Subbotin wants to pass the guard but Turchin is keeping the position.

Turchin manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Subbotin avoids the head kick by Turchin.
Turchin tries to clinch up but Subbotin circles away and keeps his distance.

Subbotin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Turchin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Subbotin stands up from Turchin's guard - Subbotin perhaps looking for a knockout.

Subbotin's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Subbotin duly obliges.
Subbotin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Turchin swivels and escapes.

and Turchin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladimir Subbotin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Subbotin wants to clinch.
Subbotin moves out of range of the body kick.

and Subbotin counters with a shoot takedown. Turchin fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Subbotin is looking to work some ground and pound but Turchin has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ivan Turchin will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Turchin is trying to stand up here but Subbotin is controlling him well.
Subbotin is looking to advance position but Turchin won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Turchin moves into full guard.
Subbotin controlling from the top position.
Turchin looking for a sweep. Not yet Turchin, not yet.
Turchin is trying to control the position but Subbotin postures up.
Subbotin trying to control the position from guard on top but Turchin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Subbotin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Turchin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Vladimir Subbotin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Turchin tries to close the distance and clinch but Subbotin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Subbotin misses with the body kick

and Turchin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Subbotin won't be happy with that.
Subbotin is trying to control Turchin's posture but Turchin avoids it.
Subbotin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Subbotin is looking to escape.
Turchin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Turchin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Subbotin shoots for a takedown but Turchin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Turchin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Subbotin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Turchin counters with a takedown into side control.
Subbotin is pushing Turchin's head away, looking to escape. Turchin manages to hold on to the position though.
Turchin tries to advance position but instead Subbotin slips a leg back in to half guard.
Subbotin tries to roll over but Turchin keeps him under control.

Turchin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Subbotin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Turchin is keen to just control but Subbotin is a slippery customer.
Turchin stops Subbotin from getting back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Turchin in particular looking to stall.
Subbotin is trying to control but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ivan Turchin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Turchin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
