Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Osvalde Ovale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pawel Hohs! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hohs blocks a head kick by Ovale.
Ovale drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hohs manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Ovale is looking for a sweep. Hohs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Hohs wants to stand up but Ovale is controlling the position.
Hohs decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Ovale circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ovale throws a lazy head kick and Hohs counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hohs. Ovale looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hohs stands up from guard. Let's bang! Hohs throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Ovale dives in and scores a takedown into Hohs's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hohs looking to control.
Hohs lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ovale! Hohs putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Hohs manages to capitalize on a mistake by Ovale to take his back! Ovale is taking damage to the body and head. Hohs connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Ovale to escape the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Hohs is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ovale defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Ovale is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hohs controlling well, preventing Ovale from escaping the position.
Hohs lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Ovale knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hohs on the ground. Ovale is really stuck here.
Hohs looking for the choke from the back. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ovale grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Hohs has the hooks in. Ovale is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Ovale covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. I would not like to be Ovale right now.
Ovale is trying to defend against the choke here but Hohs has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Hohs Tightens the hold and Ovale taps out furiously! Hohs displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
