Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Butch Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rolf Kross! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams takes one to the chin there. Kross tries to clinch and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Williams avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kross misses with a few strikes there.
A swing and a miss from Kross. Kross throws a head kick that misses and Williams counters with a slapping leg kick. Williams chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kross throws a predictable looking body shot
and Williams counters with a left and a right that stings Kross. Kross falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Williams to counter with a crisp jab. Kross circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kross wants to slow Williams down by chopping away at his legs. Rolf Kross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kross misses with a double jab.
Kross shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Kross thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Williams's head. Williams blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kross. Kross drops an elbow to the side of Williams's head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Williams works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kross throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Williams works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kross landing with the ground and pound. Kross drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Williams manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kross has Williams in his guard. Williams postures up in Kross's guard and throws a big left but Kross blocks it. Williams looking to sit in guard and control but Kross gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kross keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Williams's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kross stands up over Williams, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Kross makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kross postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kross chips away with some ground and pound. Kross trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Kross doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kross manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kross stands and throws Williams's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kross fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Kross working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kross looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Williams is avoiding damage well.
Kross throwing strikes but Williams manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Williams is looking to take a break and control but Kross is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Williams throwing shots but missing, from side control. Kross looks to land a combination but Williams avoids it well. Kross throws a low kick but it's checked well by Williams. Williams takes the fight into the clinch. Kross has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Williams is trying to keep an underhook but Kross manages to get the takedown into half guard. Kross not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kross trying to control from half guard but Williams is working away. Kross is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Williams doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kross. Kross missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams. Williams is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Williams is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Kross thows a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kross postures up and lands a big shot to Williams's brow. Kross throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Williams works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
