Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kong Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Le comes to the cage accompanied by Ave Maria. Stark has chosen Iron Man-Black Sabbath as his entrance music. Kong Le could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Anthony Stark's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kong Le!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Stark!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Stark counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Le tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Le throws a lazy uppercut
and Stark cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Kong Le has been cut.
Le throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Le throws a lazy body kick

and Stark counters with a single leg into guard. Le didn't expect that.
Stark trying to control the position from guard on top but Le is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Le keeping full guard, as Stark tries to pass.
Stark is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Stark looking to sit in guard and control but Le gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stark manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Le manages to get himself to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stark looks to land a combination but Le avoids it well.
Le tries to land a leg kick but Stark saw it coming and moves away.
Le misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Stark counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Stark tries to free his leg and advance position but Le is retaining full guard.
Le managing to control the position.

Stark has gone for a leg lock! Le slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stark's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stark looking to hit a scissor sweep but Le is one step ahead there.

Stark escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Le gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stark is looking for a triangle here but Le uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Stark manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Le just misses with a punch to the body.
Le throws a poor cross that misses
and Stark counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Stark checks a leg kick.
Le misses with a low kick as Stark jumps back.
Le misses with a head kick.
Stark tries to score a power double leg takedown but Le sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stark somewhat.

Le avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Le throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kong Le is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Le swings widly with a right hand
and Stark counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jab by Stark.
Le lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kong Le seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stark is breathing heavily.
Le is looking to chop away at Stark's legs.
Decent striking displayed by Le there.
Le throws a head kick but Stark moves out of range.
Stark on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Good leg kick by Le there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Le throws a sloppy head kick and Stark moves out of range easily.

and Stark counters with a nice body shot.
A combination from Le does no damage.
Le looks to score with a jab to the body but Stark is just out of range.
Le feints and then cracks Stark's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Stark down.
Le misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A bone on bone clash there as Stark blocks the leg kick.
Stark on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Le. Le obviously looking to wear him down.

Stark avoids the head kick by Le.
A solid leg kick lands there for Le.
Stark's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Le takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Le throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Stark counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Le throws a right hand that misses
and Stark counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Le thumps Stark with a low kick.
Stark shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Le scoring well with a low kick there.
Le fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Le attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Kong Le is winning the standup battle so far.
A slow jab from Stark misses its intended target.
Le is looking to chop away at Stark's legs.
Le throws a leg kick that misses.
Le throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Stark counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Le throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Le misses with a lunging right hand

and Stark counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Le's guard now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stark is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Stark is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Le doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stark.

and Stark counters with a nice double leg into side control. Le won't be happy with that.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Le is pulling down on Stark's head to control his posture.

Stark slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Stark tries for a kimura but Le is defending well.
Stark has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Stark is working for a guillotine from mount but Le frees his head quite easily.
Le tries to lock up and control but Stark gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Le throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Le shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Le swings widly with a right hand
and Stark counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Stark misses the shot to the body.
Le throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stark counters with a takedown into side control.

Stark is trying to get an arm triangle but Le is defending well.

Stark goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Le has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Stark but great work by Le.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Stark looks to move to half guard but instead Le has passed into mount! Damn!

Stark is squirming around, avoiding Le's attempts to control the action.
Le prevents Stark from getting the reversal.
Le wants to control the pace but Stark is squirming around nicely.
Stark is looking to get to half guard.
Anthony Stark is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Stark bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Le landing with the ground and pound.
Stark bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Le's guard.

Stark drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Le dives on top into guard.
Le postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anthony Stark comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Stark has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
