Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rusty Spoons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Rogers! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spoons throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rogers tries for a takedown but Spoons sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Spoons moves in looking to clinch but Rogers pushes him off. Spoons keeps the fight on the outside. Rogers rushes Spoons and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Spoons can't get the takedown.
Rogers is trying to break free. With the fighters up against the cage, Rogers throws an elbow but misses. Spoons drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rogers gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rogers has Spoons pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Spoons manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Spoons lands an elbow just above Rogers 's eye. Spoons lands a nice knee to the body. Spoons working hard to break the clinch. Spoons landing knees to the head.
Rogers tries to pull guard but Spoons holds him up against the cage and eventually Rogers drops back down to his feet.
Rusty Spoons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Rogers. Rogers is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Spoons is keeping busy. Spoons's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Spoons fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch but Spoons swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Spoons moves in looking to clinch but Rogers pushes him off. Spoons has his takedown stuffed and Rogers counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spoons swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rogers looks gassed! Rogers sitting in guard, not really doing much. Spoons trying to keep a closed guard but Rogers is proving a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rusty Spoons wasn't doing enough on the ground. Rogers tries to clinch but Spoons moves out of range. Rusty Spoons seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rogers misses with a jab, cross combination.

Spoons tries to clinch there but Rogers circles away.
Rogers moves into the clinch. Spoons is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Rogers stalling in the clinch but Spoons improves position. Spoons tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rogers smiles and moves away.
Rogers tries to bum rush Spoons with a series of wild strikes but Spoons uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Spoons is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rogers clinches up against the cage. Spoons is trying to break the clinch but Rogers is controlling him. Spoons lands an elbow inside that Rogers shrugs off. Rogers wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Spoons has him pressed against the cage. Spoons tries to circle away but Rogers has him pinned against the cage. Spoons breaks from the clinch.
Rogers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spoons takes the fight into the clinch. Spoons wants to get back to striking at distance but Rogers won't allow it.

Spoons stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Spoons's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Spoons tries to close the distance and clinch but Rogers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. The fight stays on the outside here - Rogers looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Spoons scores with a shot to the body.
Rogers misses with a leg kick and Spoons counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Rogers thows a leg kick but Spoons checks it and Spoons counters with an outside leg kick.
Spoons scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Spoons lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rogers circles away quickly and effectively. Spoons tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rogers paws at him with a jab and circles away. Spoons tries to clinch up but Rogers circles away and keeps his distance. Spoons stalks Rogers and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rogers's face. Rogers staggers backwards, shaken.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A low kick from Rogers misses and Spoons counters with a head kick. Rogers darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rogers wants to take a breather but Spoons is having none of it. Rogers is figuring out what he wants to do next. Rogers is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Spoons is trying to get back to full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rogers wants to take a breather but Spoons is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rusty Spoons dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Spoons clinches. Spoons stops a takedown attempt from Rogers.
Spoons tries to break free but Rogers pushes him back against the cage. Rogers successfully pulls guard.
Spoons working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Spoons landing with the ground and pound. Rogers looking to control.
Rogers lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Spoons! Rogers trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rogers lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spoons is looking to get to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Spoons bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Spoons trying to control the position from guard on top but Rogers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spoons postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Spoons prevents Rogers from getting back to his feet. Rogers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spoons doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spoons manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Spoons trying to control but Rogers is working from the bottom. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Rogers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spoons accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rogers utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Spoons trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spoons preventing the sweep. Spoons throwing strikes but missing. Spoons with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rogers is trying to control the position but Spoons postures up. Spoons advances position into side control! Rogers is trying to control Spoons's posture but Spoons avoids it. Rogers tries to get back to half guard but can't. Spoons trying to control the action but Rogers is working from the bottom. Spoons has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Spoons stands up and beckons Rogers to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spoons doesn't manage to clinch there - Rogers circles away.
Spoons looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Spoons throws a head kick that half lands.
Spoons gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rogers to score an easy takedown into full guard. Rogers looking to sit in guard and control but Spoons gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Rogers trying to control the position.
Rogers might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Spoons kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Rusty Spoons will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Spoons fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rogers on the side of the head. Rogers looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Spoons fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rogers avoids it really well and circles away. Horrible takedown by Rogers or perhaps it was just good defense by Spoons which made him look bad. Spoons changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Spoons doesn't manage to clinch there - Rogers circles away.
Spoons throws a nice head kick!
Spoons moves into range and clinches up with Rogers. Spoons decides to pull guard. Rogers stands and steps away. Spoons gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rogers circles away from the clinch attempt.
Spoons with a body punch. A glancing blow. Spoons gets a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spoons breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rogers lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Spoons throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rogers stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rogers wants to clinch. Rogers with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Spoons to score with a decent uppercut. Spoons stuffs the takedown. Rusty Spoons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Rogers. Spoons throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rogers darts in and clinches Spoons up against the cage. Spoons lands a nice knee to the body. Rogers tries to pull guard but Spoons holds him up against the cage and eventually Rogers drops back down to his feet.

Spoons lands a nice elbow from the clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Rogers has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Spoons avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Spoons is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Rogers is trying to stall.
Rogers is trying to break the clinch but Spoons is controlling him. Spoons breaks the clinch.
Spoons lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Spoons tries a head kick but it misses.
Rogers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rogers looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Spoons is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rogers defends well. Spoons avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spoons trying to control the position.
Rogers stands up over Spoons, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Spoons doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Rogers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Spoons fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Rogers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Spoons did well to prevent Rogers getting side control. Rogers stalling. Spoons is trying to control but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rogers has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Spoons is working to get back to half guard.
Spoons is in a horrible position here. Rogers smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rogers scoring with strikes but Spoons is staying in there.
And that's the end of the fight! Michael Rogers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Spoons has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
