The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem misses with a head kick.
Overeem looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Overeem tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Overeem misses with a jab, cross combination.
Couture fails with the takedown
and Overeem counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Couture is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Couture misses with a takedown attempt - Overeem sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Overeem throws a sloppy head kick
and Couture counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Couture trying to mount his opponent but Overeem defends it.
Couture is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Overeem reverses the position - he's now on top in Couture's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Overeem has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Couture is proving hard to escape from.
Overeem decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Overeem.
An inside leg kick lands from Overeem.
Overeem tries a head kick but it misses.
Overeem scores with a leg kick.
Couture is breathing heavily.
Couture doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Overeem counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Overeem looks at the referee who does nothing so Overeem lands a crushing right that sends Couture to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.
