Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leon Spyridon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marko Barrera! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barrera lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
It looks like Leon Spyridon has been cut. Spyridon forces Barrera back against the cage and clinches. Spyridon blocks a body shot from Barrera. Barrera wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Spyridon has him pressed against the cage. Barrera stops a takedown attempt from Spyridon.
Spyridon turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barrera can do anything to dispel that myth. Barrera is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Spyridon is looking to take a break and control but Barrera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barrera tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Spyridon easily slips into full mount! Spyridon wants to control the pace but Barrera is squirming around nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spyridon mounts Barrera! Really nice guard pass there! Spyridon avoids the attempt from Barrera to control. Spyridon controlling from mount. Barrera wants to hold on but Spyridon pushes him away. Barrera throwing hammer fists to the chest of Spyridon. What's that going to do exactly? Spyridon controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Barrera has given up his back here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spyridon controlling the position well here. Barrera rolled but Spyridon kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Barrera's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Spyridon's hands. Spyridon trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Barrera doesn't escape. Barrera really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Spyridon's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spyridon has managed to slip his arm under Barrera's chin. This could be all over... yep, Barrera is tapping out! Submission win for Spyridon.
