Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Thompson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephan Potvin! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Potvin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Potvin is trying to control. Thompson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Thompson is controlling Potvin's trapped leg to prevent Potvin from advancing to side control. Thompson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thompson tries to get out of the position. Potvin seems to be looking for submissions.
Potvin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thompson sees it coming and defends easily. Thompson wants to improve his position but Potvin is controlling well.
Potvin is trying to control. Thompson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Potvin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Potvin prevents Thompson from standing back up.
Thompson is not content to let Potvin control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Potvin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potvin moves into full mount! Thompson won't be happy about that! Thompson tries to reverse the position but Potvin maintains control. Thompson wants to control but Potvin is having none of it. Thompson is looking to improve his position but Potvin isn't that keen on the idea. Potvin looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Potvin has control of Thompson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thompson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Thompson is in a horrible position here. Potvin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson wants to control but Potvin is having none of it. Potvin swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
