PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cliff Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Cerrano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cliff Pena!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pedro Cerrano!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pena shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Pena seems to be working for a kimura but Cerrano defends the submission attempt.

Pena is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Pena is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cerrano sees it coming and defends easily.
Cerrano has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pena is working away from the top position though.

Pena is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pena is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Cerrano as he works his way to full guard.

Pena postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cerrano is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pena, into his guard.
Cerrano is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pena is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cerrano won't allow Pena to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cerrano pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pena is keeping the position for now.
Cerrano has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pena is proving hard to escape from.
Pena looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cerrano is one step ahead there.
Cerrano trying to control the position from guard on top but Pena is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pena is trying to control the position but Cerrano postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cerrano has his takedown stuffed

and Pena counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Pena postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cerrano is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pena, into his guard.
Cerrano trying to control the position from guard on top but Pena is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cerrano advances position into side control!

Cerrano is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pena is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cerrano tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Cerrano working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cliff Pena dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Pena counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Pena wants to work for an arm triangle but Cerrano is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cerrano tries to roll over but Pena keeps him under control.

Pena is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Pena is working for a submission of some sort.

Pena is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cerrano is looking to improve his position.
Cerrano is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pena's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pena's back!

Cerrano working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Pena is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Cerrano has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Pena taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Pedro Cerrano!
