Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Ford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Hinkley!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hinkley closes the distance and clinches.
Ford jumps guard but Hinkley stands there with Ford around his waist. Ford gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hinkley looking to slow down the pace here.
Ford drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hinkley pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hinkley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hinkley wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Ford. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ford has a takedown stuffed.

Hinkley has managed to clinch.
Ford is trying to drag Hinkley to the mat but Hinkley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ford lands a good knee to the midsection. Hinkley won't want to take too many of those.
Hinkley working hard to break the clinch.
Hinkley is looking to break free of the clinch but Ford has double underhooks.
Ford tries to pull guard but Hinkley won't allow it.
Ford tries to break free but Hinkley pushes him back against the cage.

Hinkley softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Hinkley lands a body punch in the clinch.
Ford tries for a takedown. No joy.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Hinkley.
Ford has Hinkley pressed against the cage, preventing Hinkley from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Hinkley presses Ford against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Ford prevents Hinkley from breaking the clinch.
Hinkley digs a right hand underneath Ford's ribcage. Ford let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Hinkley wants to get back to striking at distance but Ford won't allow it.
Hinkley scores with a hook to the body.
Hinkley tries to circle away but Ford has him pinned against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Hinkley.
Ford is trying to break the clinch but Hinkley has him pressed against the cage.
Hinkley gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ford.
A short body shot lands from Hinkley as the two fighters clinch.
Hinkley is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Hinkley lands a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hinkley wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ford has him pressed against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hinkley.
Hinkley lands with a left to the head.

Hinkley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hinkley shoots in looking for a takedown. Ford tries to sprawl out of it but Hinkley keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ford manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hinkley lands a jab to Ford's midsection.

Ford tries to keep at a distance but Hinkley has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hinkley lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Hinkley manages to break the clinch.
Ford swings for the body but Hinkley moves out of range.
Hinkley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ford swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hinkley lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hinkley rushes Ford and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hinkley jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ford walks away with a smile on his face. Hinkley gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hinkley cracks a nice hook into Ford's ribs.
Hinkley throws a wild body kick that Ford sees coming a mile off.
Ford throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hinkley counters with a three punch combo that has Ford backing up. Ford nods at Hinkley to acknowledge the strikes.
Ford buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ford swats away the attempt to clinch by Hinkley.

Ford clinches.
Hinkley lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ford backwards.
Hinkley tries to break free but Ford pushes him back against the cage.

Ford successfully pulls guard.
Hinkley stopping the sweep attempt from Ford.
Ford is breathing heavily.

Hinkley wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Ford's closed guard. He's half up but Ford has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Ford pivots and extends the arm, Hinkley falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Ford! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Ford!
