Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Denilson Pires!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pires gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hewitt counters with a leg kick.

Pires shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hewitt napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pires working the strikes but Hewitt uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Pires wants to pass to mount but Hewitt is defending the position.
Pires working the head and body with strikes.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Pires has eaten all the pies!
Hewitt is trying to get back to full guard.
Hewitt is controlling Pires's trapped leg to prevent Pires from advancing to side control.
Pires is looking to take a break and control but Hewitt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hewitt is looking to escape.
Pires trying to mount his opponent but Hewitt defends it.

Hewitt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pires scores with a couple of nice shots.

Pires throwing shots but Hewitt is blocking nicely.
Pires takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Pires tries to pass to full mount but Hewitt defends it.
Pires sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hewitt defending well though.
Pires wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hewitt keeps working.
Hewitt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hewitt tries to get out of the position.
Pires looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Pires looks gassed!
Pires is looking to take a break and control but Hewitt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hewitt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Pires thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pires trying to pass the guard but Hewitt defending well.
Hewitt is looking to control Pires's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hewitt avoid being mounted?
Pires sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hewitt defending well though.
Hewitt wants to control but Pires is keeping busy and won't allow it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pires not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hewitt trying to control from the bottom.
Pires works his way into side control.
Hewitt is trying to control Pires's posture but Pires avoids it.
Sloppy strikes there by Pires.
Hewitt can't do much from the bottom here.
Pires scores with punches from side control.
Hewitt taking punishment in the form of punches.
Hewitt wants to control but Pires postures up.

Hewitt tries to bench press Pires off him but Pires keeps the position.
Hewitt on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Pires throwing shots but missing, from side control.
You can see the frustration on Hewitt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hewitt takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pires tries for a kimura but Hewitt is defending well.
Hewitt tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Pires creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hewitt sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Denilson Pires dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Pires shoots and misses
and Hewitt counters with a nice body kick.
Pires misses with a takedown
and Hewitt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hewitt tries to clinch but Pires moves out of range.
Pires misses with a takedown attempt - Hewitt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rainn Hewitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denilson Pires.
Hewitt scores with a head kick.
Hewitt dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pires. That did some damage!
Hewitt's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hewitt duly obliges.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hewitt lands a head kick!
Hewitt throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Hewitt scores with a head kick.
Hewitt throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Hewitt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pires paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pires steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hewitt. That one must have hurt.
Pires is breathing heavily.
Hewitt lands a jab-cross combination.
Hewitt lands with a kick to the temple. Pires shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Hewitt fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good leg kick by Hewitt there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rainn Hewitt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hewitt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Pires backs up against the cage.
Nice cross by Hewitt.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Hewitt.
Hewitt moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
A right-left combo lands from Hewitt.


Pires is rocked!
Hewitt throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Pires steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hewitt. That one must have hurt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice jab there from Hewitt.
Hewitt swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pires.

Oooooh!!! Hewitt has knocked Pires down with a huge combo! Hewitt steps away and waves a wobbly Pires back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Pires is still on wobbly legs! Can Hewitt finish him?
Rainn Hewitt is winning the standup battle so far.
Crack! A monster head kick from Hewitt and Pires falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Hewitt!
