Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Arturo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fred Alexander has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Arturo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fred Alexander! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexander tries to sprawl but Arturo drives through with a takedown into half guard. Arturo is just content to waste time from the top position. Alexander takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Arturo stopping the sweep attempt from Alexander. Arturo trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Alexander manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Arturo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alexander is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fred Alexander wasn't active enough on the ground. Alexander shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Arturo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Alexander controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arturo trying to keep a closed guard but Alexander is proving a slippery customer.
Alexander passes easily into side control. Nice work. Alexander is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Arturo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Arturo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Fred Alexander. Alexander shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Arturo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Alexander is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. It looks like Alexander might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fred Alexander wasn't active enough on the ground. Alexander looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Arturo gets a double leg takedown into Alexander's guard. Arturo trying to control the position from guard on top but Alexander is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alexander is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Arturo is aware though and is defending well. Arturo is breathing heavily. Alexander has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Alexander dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Arturo closes the distance looking to clinch and Alexander counters with a shoot takedown. Arturo fights it but they end up in guard. Alexander passes Arturo's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Alexander sitting and controlling from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alexander prevents Arturo from standing back up.
Alexander seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Arturo trying to hold on to Alexander's head to control him but Alexander postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Alexander frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Alexander controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fred Alexander has got the better of the ground game so far.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Fred Alexander hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Arturo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Alexander! Alexander is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alexander regains half guard. Alexander is trying to control but can't.
Alexander is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Arturo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Arturo's back! Alexander controlling from the back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Arturo right now.
Alexander throwing damaging strikes from the back! Arturo could be in trouble here!
I would not like to be Arturo right now.
Alexander tightening his grip on Arturo, looking for the choke. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Alexander showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Arturo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alexander manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Alexander is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Arturo trying to move into half guard but instead Alexander has managed to sweep! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Alexander stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's one minute gone in the round. Arturo misses with a head kick.
Arturo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Alexander is pressing down on Arturo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Arturo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alexander on the ground. Alexander seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Alexander is trying to control the position but Arturo postures up. Alexander bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Arturo's guard. Alexander pushing down on Arturo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander uses his free foot to push down on Arturo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Arturo. Alexander controlling the pace for now. The referee warns Arturo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Alexander controlling the position easily from mount. Let's hope that Alexander has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Alexander has control of Arturo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Arturo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arturo tries to get back to half guard but can't. Alexander controlling the pace for now. Alexander with a couple of short strikes. Alexander sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Alexander raining down hammerfists from mount. Alexander controlling from the full mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Fred Alexander comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Alexander has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
