Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bj Pennx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Hominick!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pennx feints and as Hominick raises his hands in defense, Pennx changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pennx wants to stand but Hominick is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pennx is breathing heavily.
Hominick bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pennx's guard.
Hominick looking to sit in guard and control but Pennx gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pennx wants to stand but Hominick has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hominick looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pennx has picked Hominick up and slammed him! Hominick can't keep hold of the triangle and Pennx manages to pass to side control!

Hominick tries to bench press Pennx off him but Pennx keeps the position.

Hominick can't do much from the bottom here.
Hominick tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pennx wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pennx decides to stand back up. Pennx steps back and let's Hominick get back to his feet.

and Hominick holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pennx can't get the takedown.
Hominick pulls Pennx into guard.
Pennx would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pennx stands and steps away. Hominick gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Pennx is looking to stand back up but Hominick counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pennx.
Hominick decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hominick is working an open guard so Pennx takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hominick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pennx was covering up waiting for the punch and Hominick finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mark Hominick will probably get the nod.

and Hominick counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Hominick tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pennx sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hominick somewhat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hominick tries to free his leg and advance position but Pennx is retaining full guard.
Hominick wants to get up but he can't break Pennx's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hominick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hominick connects with a nice short shot to Pennx's temple.

Hominick is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pennx is just riding it out for now. Hominick eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hominick jumps guard and drags Pennx to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Pennx wants to stand but Hominick has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hominick has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pennx off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Pennx shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hominick manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Pennx has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hominick is proving hard to escape from.
Hominick wants to sweep but no luck.
Hominick has a closed guard, preventing Pennx from standing up.
Hominick tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mark Hominick comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hominick has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
