Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fig Gif (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gif misses with a combination
and Velasquez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gif's guard.
Velasquez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Velasquez won't allow Gif to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gif is looking to break free of the clinch but Velasquez has double underhooks.
Gif tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Velasquez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Gif.
Velasquez takes an elbow to the forehead.
Gif creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Velasquez's defenses.
Velasquez has hold of one of Gif's legs. Gif is fighting the takedown attempt but Velasquez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Gif wants to stand up but Velasquez is controlling him.
Velasquez is working Gif over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Velasquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gif swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

It looks like Fig Gif has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velasquez cracks Gif with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
