Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roger Huerta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Peter! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Huerta lands with a thumping leg kick.
Peter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Huerta.
Huerta rushes Peter and presses him up against the cage. Huerta lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
It looks like Matthew Peter has been cut. Peter wants a takedown.
Huerta breaks from the clinch.
Peter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Huerta counters by moving into the clinch. Peter tries to work over Huerta's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Huerta keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Peter's efforts to push away. Peter looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Peter tries to pull guard but Huerta holds him up against the cage and eventually Peter drops back down to his feet.
Roger Huerta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Peter. Huerta lands an elbow inside that Peter shrugs off. Peter doesn't succeed with the takedown and Huerta counters with a one-two to the body. A slapping body kick lands there for Peter. A left and a right from Huerta both land. Nice combination. Huerta gets a clinch. Peter is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Peter looks gassed! Huerta's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Peter darts in trying to clinch and Huerta counters with an inside leg kick. An inside leg kick lands from Huerta. Peter tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Huerta is able to avoid easily. Peter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Huerta moves into the clinch. A left and a right from Huerta both land. Nice combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Some wild striking there from Huerta.

Huerta takes the fight into the clinch. Huerta's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Huerta dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matthew Peter's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Huerta circles away from the clinch attempt and Huerta holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Huerta is struggling to control the position. Huerta seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Peter tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Huerta just stands there and leans against the cage. Huerta comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Peter tries to circle away but Huerta has him pinned against the cage. Peter struggles to land a body shot inside as Huerta controls his hands.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Huerta gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Peter.

and Peter counters with a low kick, right behind Huerta 's knee. Huerta goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Huerta misses with a few strikes there.

Huerta throws a combination that misses and Peter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Huerta wants to stand and escape but Peter is having none of it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Huerta has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Peter trying to control but Huerta is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Peter wants to get up but he can't break Huerta's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Matthew Peter wasn't active enough on the ground. Huerta drives through and clinches with Peter against the cage.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Peter tries to pass to full mount but Huerta defends it. Huerta looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Roger Huerta is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Peter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that's the end of the fight! Roger Huerta showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Huerta, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
