Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pyyno Janis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Janis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rubber Johnny. Paul is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lamb of God-Omerta. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Pyyno Janis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Paul! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Janis buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Paul leaves Janis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Paul misses with the combination.
Paul throws an off balance right hand
and Janis counters with a good low kick that Paul was not able to check. Janis blocks a jab. Janis throws a front kick that sends Paul stumbling back into the cage. A head kick by Paul misses and Janis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Paul won't be happy with that. Janis trying to control the position but Paul is working away. Paul being controlled for a moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Janis scores with punches from side control. Janis trying to control the position but Paul is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Janis has just dragged him back down to the mat. Paul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Janis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Janis moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Pyyno Janis just wasn't active enough. Janis throws a leg kick but Paul sees it coming and moves out of range. Paul misses with a right hand and Janis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Janis. Janis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Janis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paul swivels though and keeps the full guard. Janis with a flurry of punches that miss. Janis throwing strikes but missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Janis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Janis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Janis throwing strikes but missing. Janis passes easily into side control. Nice work. Janis trying to control the position but Paul is working away. Janis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Paul is looking to reverse the position. Paul is not content to let Janis control the position. Janis works to advance to full mount. Paul defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Janis in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
It looks like David Paul has been cut.

Janis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Paul looks a forlorn figure.
Janis working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Janis lands a big shot there that rocks Paul but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Janis dominating with strikes here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Janis landing strikes, looking to finish! Janis is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Paul has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Paul tries to lock up and control but Janis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Janis working the ground and pound effectively.
Janis landing strikes from the mount and Paul is in trouble! Janis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Paul can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Paul wants to hold on but Janis pushes him away. Janis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Paul hang on? Paul looks gassed! BOOM! Janis connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Paul sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Janis is figuring out what he wants to do next. Janis passes the guard and advances to mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Janis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Paul on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Janis. Janis obviously looking to wear him down.
Janis tries to move into range but Paul moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Janis misses with a kick to the body.

Janis drives through with a takedown into Paul's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paul can do anything to dispel that myth. Janis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Janis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Janis postures up.

Janis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Paul keeping moving, preventing Janis from controlling successfully. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Paul was covering up waiting for the punch and Janis finishes the takedown easily into guard. Paul keeping moving, preventing Janis from controlling successfully. Paul is fighting to break Janis's control of his arms but Janis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

and Janis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paul's guard. Janis wants to control from the top but Paul keeps moving. Pyyno Janis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Janis postures up and lands a big shot to Paul's brow. Paul trying to control the position.

Janis throws a nice outside leg kick. Paul thows a leg kick but Janis checks it and Janis counters with a shoot takedown. Paul fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Janis working some strikes from top position. Janis stands up over Paul, holding his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Janis pushes down on Paul's leg and manages to get into half guard. Paul misses with a leg kick and Janis counters with a head kick. That will keep Paul thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Paul scores with the left hand. Janis knows he should have avoided that one. Paul tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Janis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Janis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Paul wants to control but Janis is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul is not content to let Janis control the position. Paul is doing well to control the position and prevent Janis from advancing to side control. Janis wants to pass the guard but Paul is defending well. Paul tries to roll over but Janis keeps him under control.
The ref stands the fighters back up. David Paul was stalling too much, according to the referee. Janis shoots in looking for a takedown but Paul manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Janis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Paul lands a really nice looking cross but Janis seems unphased.

Paul tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Pyyno Janis is winning the standup battle so far. Janis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Janis showed some decent athleticism there. Janis trying to control from half guard but Paul is working away. Paul wants to improve his position but Janis is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Janis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Paul jabbing away but nothing is landing. Janis shoots in and gets a takedown into Paul's guard. Paul keeping moving, preventing Janis from controlling successfully. Paul is pulling down on Janis's head. It's preventing any offense from Janis, at least for the moment. Paul looking to sweep here. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pyyno Janis. Janis misses with the body kick and Paul counters with a nice leg kick. Paul is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Paul throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Janis counters with a thumping low kick. Paul misses with a left hand and Janis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paul's guard. Janis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Janis content to stall in guard here. Janis advances to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Paul is refusing to be controlled, as Janis sits in half guard. Pyyno Janis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Janis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that's the end of the fight! Pyyno Janis showed his dominance in that final round. Well Janis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
