Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Dredd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Connor James! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dredd shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense. Dredd throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily. Dredd wants to clinch but James slips to the side and James counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dredd is lucky that one didn't land flush. James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Dredd tries for a takedown but James sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Dredd shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dredd's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Dredd. That's going to take a lot out of him. James circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dredd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dredd off to one side. James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. James should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. James fails with a takedown attempt. Dredd will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dredd shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dredd's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dredd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away. Dredd misses with an uppercut
and James counters with a stiff right hand. Dredd is breathing heavily. A nice leg kick lands there from James. Dredd stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dredd wants it to stay on the feet. Dredd avoids the body shot from James.
A decent looking body kick lands there for James. James moves into range and connects with a jab. James misses with a double jab.
Dredd fails with a takedown attempt. James throws a head kick that Dredd semi-blocks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! James lands with a nice body kick. A head kick from James lands but Dredd takes it in his stride.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dredd tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dredd to the ground. Dredd escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. James misses with a wild body shot. James stalks Dredd and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Dredd's face. Dredd staggers backwards, shaken.
Dredd is rocked! James lands with a right that hurts Dredd. Dredd looks to clinch but James throws a short knee that drops Dredd. This one is all over!
