PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Orlando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes into the arena with Long way 2 Go blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paulo Orlando!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Orlando connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Silva fails with the takedown

and Orlando holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Orlando looking to throw knees to the head but Silva is blocking nicely.

Orlando drops Silva with a big knee straight up the middle! Silva is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


It looks like Leo Silva has been cut.
Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Orlando counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Orlando.

Orlando misses with a knee to the head.
Silva takes an elbow to the forehead.

Silva jumps guard and drags Orlando to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Orlando cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

Silva wants to control from the top but Orlando keeps moving.
Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Orlando is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Silva is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Orlando is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Paulo Orlando is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Paulo Orlando comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Orlando has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
