PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Connoly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chilun Rassaaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connoly kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Break Stuff - Limp Bizkit. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connoly shoots in looking for a takedown. Rassaaja tries to sprawl out of it but Connoly keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rassaaja manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rassaaja stuffs the takedown attempt from Connoly. Connoly gets slowly back to his feet.
Rassaaja missing with a left hand there. Connoly was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
No joy there for Rassaaja, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Connoly instigates a clinch.
Connoly tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rassaaja smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Connoly. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Connoly changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rassaaja tries to avoid it but Connoly manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rassaaja to the ground. Rassaaja escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rassaaja throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Connoly sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Rassaaja as Connoly shoots in.

Rassaaja throws a left that rocks Connoly and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Rassaaja dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Connoly regain composure!

It looks like Dan Connoly has been cut.

Rassaaja stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Connoly fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rassaaja steps into range and cracks Connoly with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Connoly flops backwards and Rassaaja dives into his guard looking to finish!
Oh Connoly is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Rassaaja counters with a series of strikes. Connoly will be more careful next time no doubt.

Connoly closes the distance and clinches up with Rassaaja, looking for a takedown. Connoly pushes Rassaaja against the cage but Rassaaja circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rassaaja looks to land a left hand but Connoly moved out of range nicely.
Rassaaja throws a big shot that misses.
Good exchange - Rassaaja coming out on top.
Connoly avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rassaaja throws out a loose jab but Connoly uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rassaaja blocks a head kick by Connoly.
Rassaaja fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Chilun Rassaaja is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Connoly looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rassaaja is fending him off so far but Connoly persists. Nope, Rassaaja circles away and we're back to standing.
Connoly is breathing heavily.
Nice takedown defense from Rassaaja. No joy for Connoly on that attempt.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Connoly. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rassaaja misses with a hook. Connoly ducked under it nicely.
Rassaaja drops his shoulder and cracks Connoly with a huge uppercut! Connoly goes down! Can Rassaaja finish him?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Connoly bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Rassaaja comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Connoly falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Connoly was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chilun Rassaaja!
