PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ass waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Overeem.
Ass closes this distance looking for a takedown but Overeem circles away.
Overeem connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ass's hands.
Overeem displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ass.
Overeem circles away from the clinch attempt.
Overeem fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ass has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Overeem lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ass circles away quickly and effectively.

Overeem with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Overeem lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Overeem lands a really nice looking cross but Ass seems unphased.
Overeem with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ass to score with a decent uppercut.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ass misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ass accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ass won't allow Overeem to sweep him here.

Overeem pushes Ass off and gets back to his feet.
Ass doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Overeem counters with a nice body shot.

Ass takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Alistair Overeem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
