Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antonio Nogueira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Angel!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angel fails with the takedown

and Nogueira counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nogueira postures up in Angel's guard and throws a big left but Angel blocks it.

Nogueira drops back, looking for a kneebar! Angel looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Angel looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Angel!
Nogueira is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
You can see the frustration on Nogueira's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Angel has control of an arm but Nogueira manages to advance to Angel's back!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Angel wants to escape the position.
Nogueira tries to get the hooks in deep but Angel pushed the leg off.

Nogueira could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Nogueira has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Angel has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Nogueira's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Nogueira doesn't have the hooks in and Angel manages to turn into his guard.

Nogueira throws his legs up looking for a submission but Angel uses it to pass to side control.

Angel tries for a kimura but Nogueira is defending well.

Angel has hold of Nogueira's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Nogueira seems comfortable defending it but Angel has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Nogueira is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Nogueira is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Angel couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Michael Angel!
