Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aaron Ely! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Wellies! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wellies scoring well with a low kick there.
Ely takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Wellies tries to clinch up. Ely goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Wellies wants to clinch but Ely slips to the side and Ely counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ely is breathing heavily. Ely won't allow Wellies to sweep him here. Wellies pulls Ely in close to his closed guard and prevents Ely from doing any damage or advancing position. Ely is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Wellies clinches. Wellies stalls. Ely jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wellies walks away with a smile on his face. Ely gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Wellies moves in looking to clinch but Ely pushes him off. Wellies gets a clinch. Wellies landing knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Wellies tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ely manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Wellies wants to clinch up but Ely keeps it at a distance. Wellies clinches up with Ely and pushes him back against the cage. Wellies dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. At least for now. Wellies controls Ely momentarily but Ely frees himself. Elyis looking to pass into half guard but Wellies pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Wellies is in guard. Wellies wants to control from the top but Ely keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Johnny Wellies will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ely trying to move into half guard but instead Wellies has managed to sweep! Wellies content to stall in guard here. Wellies slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wellies lands an elbow. Ely wants to control but Wellies postures up. Wellies wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ely, who protects the arm well. Ely is trying to control Wellies's posture but Wellies avoids it. Wellies is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ely's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ely tries to improve position but can't. Ely is working hard here to advance position. Ely is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Ely wants to control but Wellies postures up. Wellies controlling the position. Wellies tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wellies has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Johnny Wellies is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ely tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wellies wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Wellies lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Wellies lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ely down.
Wellies is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ely will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Wellies in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
And that's the end of the fight! Johnny Wellies comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Wellies winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
