Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Marciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norman Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marciano comes into the arena with 2PAC - NO MORE PAIN blaring out of the sound system. Bates has chosen Hmmm... Interesting... as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy Marciano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Norman Bates! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bates takes one to the chin there. Marciano thows a body shot but no joy. Marciano is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bates. Nice defenses there by Bates. Bates just misses with a punch to the body.
Marciano throws a series of punches but Bates moves out of range. Marciano rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bates moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Bates just misses with a punch to the body.
Marciano lands a jab-cross combination. Marciano fails to land with a series of punches.
A big right from Marciano misses. Marciano missing with a left hand there. Bates was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Marciano tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Bates is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Marciano's half guard. Marciano is trying to stand.
Marciano keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bates thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Marciano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bates on the ground. Bates not doing much here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bates is looking to stall here but Marciano recovers full guard. Bates drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bates jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Bates won't allow Marciano to get back to his feet. Bates seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Marciano keeping moving, preventing Bates from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bates throws a big right hand that misses. Bates postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bates wants to control from the top but Marciano keeps moving. Bates might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Marciano kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bates has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Norman Bates. Marciano misses the shot to the body. Bates misses with a hook. Marciano misses with a wild combination.
Marciano swings widly with a right hand
and Bates cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bates throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Bates shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Marciano is staying active underneath Bates, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bates thows a huge punch but Marciano dodges it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Marciano defending well though. Marciano avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bates. Marciano is staying active underneath Bates, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Bates stalling. Bates moves into full mount! Marciano won't be happy about that! Bates pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Norman Bates dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Marciano jabbing away but nothing is landing. Tommy Marciano is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marciano keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Bates. Marciano connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Marciano slips a jab and a cross from Bates.
Marciano misses with a looping left. Tommy Marciano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bates ducks under a wild hook from Marciano. Marciano misses with a double jab.
Marciano thows a body shot but no joy. Marciano rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bates counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Marciano misses the jab. Bates blocks the body kick.
Marciano misses with a right hand enabling Bates to counter with a crisp jab. Bates connects with a body shot. Bates bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Marciano's head.
It looks like Tommy Marciano has been cut. Marciano throws a solid leg kick but Bates takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Marciano. Bates fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. This has been an exciting period of action! Bates connects with a jab. Bates connects with a right hand. Marciano shakes it off. Bates is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Marciano. Marciano lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bates backs up against the cage.
Norman Bates seems to be getting the better of the standup. Bates will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marciano takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bates throws an overhand right that lands on Marciano's shoulder, as Marciano tries to avoid the shot. Bates feints a jab promting Marciano to slip. Bates then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Marciano slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Marciano swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bates counters with a lovely shot to the body. Bates looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bates scoring with punches to the head and body. Bates controls from within his opponent's guard. Bates in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Marciano working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bates.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bates is looking to work some ground and pound but Marciano has wrist control. Marciano on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Marciano tries to get out of the position. Bates passes easily into side control. Nice work. Bates trying to control the position but Marciano is working away. The strikes coming from Bates are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Bates working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Bates is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Marciano looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bates gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Marciano is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bates lets go of the hold and Marciano can pop his arm back in it's socket.
