Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Lunn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Darsley! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Darsley shoots in and gets a takedown into Lunn's guard. Lunn wants to sweep but no luck. Darsley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Darsley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Darsley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Darsley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Darsley trying to control the position from guard on top but Lunn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Darsley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lunn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Darsley content to stall in guard here. Darsley trying to control but Lunn is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Thomas Darsley hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Lunn tries to bum rush Darsley with a series of wild strikes but Darsley uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Lunn fails with the takedown and Darsley moves into the clinch. Lunn is trying to force a seperation but Darsley has the dominant position. Lunn tries to break the clinch but Darsley is controlling the position. Lunn can't break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Darsley has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lunn avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Lunn turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Darsley dodges the ground and pound from Lunn. Darsley seems a little lost for a moment, as Lunn dominates the positioning. Lunn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Darsley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Lunn connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Darsley some visible discomfort.

Lunn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Darsley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Lunn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lunn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lunn is trying to get an arm triangle but Darsley is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Darsley has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Darsley trying to control but Lunn is having none of it. Lunn is trying to escape the mount.

Lunn throws a big shot that misses. Darsley misses with a takedown and Lunn counters with a body kick that stops Darsley in his tracks momentarily. Darsley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lunn. Lunn shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Darsley holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Darsley blocking some punches.
Lunn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Darsley shoots in and bounces Lunn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Lunn keeping moving, preventing Darsley from controlling successfully. Darsley pushes down on Lunn's leg and manages to get into half guard. Darsley performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lunn pushes Darsley off looking to stand but Darsley dives back in and keeps control.
Darsley winds up and cracks Lunn with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Lunn looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Darsley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lunn keeps working. Darsley looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Lunn trying to hold on to Darsley's head to control him but Darsley postures up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Thomas Darsley wasn't active enough on the ground. Lunn tries to clinch up. Darsley looking to score a takedown here. Lunn is defending well but Darsley drives through and ends up in Lunn's guard. Darsley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lunn has his foot on Darsley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Darsley works his way back into a safe position though. Lunn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Darsley defends it easily. Darsley stands and throws Lunn's legs to the side, diving into side control.
