Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quintion Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Rothstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Diamond Eyes. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rothstein counters with a low kick, right behind Jackson 's knee. Rothstein scores with a takedown into Jackson's guard. Rothstein controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson working a defensive guard here.
Jackson being controlled here, momentarily. Jackson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rothstein stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Barney Rothstein has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jackson tries for a takedown but Rothstein circles away easily and Rothstein counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jackson!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rothstein sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Rothstein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Jackson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rothstein takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Barney Rothstein hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Rothstein gets in close and instigates a clinch. Jackson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quintion Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rothstein prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rothstein has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jackson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Rothstein controlling well, preventing Jackson from escaping the position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Rothstein controlling the positon. Jackson tries to escape the position.
Jackson breaks Rothstein's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rothstein scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Rothstein closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jackson quickly recovers to half guard. Rothstein is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jackson gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.
Jackson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rothstein looks gassed! Jackson stands up over Rothstein, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Rothstein looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rothstein wants to stand and escape but Jackson is having none of it. Jackson landing some decent shots from guard. Rothstein utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Rothstein is retaining full guard. Jackson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rothstein preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jackson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson postures up in Rothstein's guard and throws a big left but Rothstein blocks it. Jackson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Barney Rothstein dominated that round. That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jackson shoots and misses and Rothstein counters with a takedown into side control. Rothstein just content to control the position. Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jackson struggling a bit here. Jackson misses with an elbow from the bottom. Jackson struggling a bit here. Jackson is looking to regain half guard here but Rothstein keeps moving and retains side control. Barney Rothstein has got the better of the ground game so far. A lull in the action here as Rothstein stalls from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rothstein misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Jackson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rothstein off and has taken his back! Rothstein covers up after that shot from Jackson.
Jackson punches the canvas rather than the man. Jackson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Rothstein defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Jackson somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Rothstein is breathing heavily. Jackson has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Rothstein.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rothstein covering up well under a series of strikes from Jackson. Jackson working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Rothstein is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Jackson has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Rothstein taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Quintion Jackson! Quintion Jackson retains his light heavyweight title!
