The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vincent misses with an uppercut
and Staton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Staton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vincent's guard.
Staton trying to control but Vincent is working from the bottom.
Staton looking to sit in guard and control but Vincent gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Vincent wanted to stand there but Staton had control of the position.

and Staton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Vincent prevents a body shot from Staton.
Vincent keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Staton's efforts to push away.
Staton can't find room to land a body shot as Vincent controls the action.

Vincent breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Vincent throws a right hand that misses
and Staton makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Vincent really felt that one!

and Staton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Staton tries to work over Vincent's front leg with a kick but Vincent checks it.
Staton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vincent as he jumps to the side.

Vincent swats away the attempt to clinch by Staton.

and Staton counters by moving into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Staton tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Vincent wants to break the clinch but can't.
Vincent blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Staton misses with a body punch.
Nice body punch from Staton.
Staton keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Vincent's efforts to push away.
Staton looking for a takedown.

Vincent gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Staton.
Ron Vincent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Staton.
Staton is working for takedown but Vincent is calmly controlling the position for now.

Staton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vincent moves away.

and Staton counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Vincent thinking.

This has been an exciting period of action!
