Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Janis Piternieks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldo Suoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Janis Piternieks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ronaldo Suoza!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suoza misses with a shot to the body
and Piternieks counters with a big head kick but Suoza shrugs it off.
Suoza shoots and misses

and Piternieks counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Suoza trying to control from the bottom.
Suoza tries to roll over but Piternieks keeps him under control.
Piternieks content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Janis Piternieks has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Suoza misses with a takedown

so Piternieks counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Piternieks would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Suoza thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Piternieks thows a big elbow that misses.

Suoza wriggles free and stands up.

and Piternieks counters by moving into the clinch.
Janis Piternieks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronaldo Suoza.

Piternieks's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Piternieks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Suoza, up you get!

and Piternieks holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Suoza looks gassed!

Piternieks has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Suoza regains guard immediately.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Piternieks has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Suoza misses with a takedown attempt

and Piternieks decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Suoza's guard.
Piternieks slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

and Piternieks counters with a shoot takedown. Suoza fights it but they end up in guard.

Piternieks closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Suoza's guard.

and Piternieks counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Piternieks postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Suoza to stand up.
A nice leg kick lands there from Piternieks.

Piternieks gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Piternieks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Piternieks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Piternieks fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Piternieks jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Suoza manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Piternieks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Piternieks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Suoza on the ground.
Piternieks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suoza swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Piternieks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Suoza wants to sweep here but Piternieks controlling him for the moment.
Suoza takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Piternieks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Piternieks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Suoza has left one of his arms exposed and Piternieks doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Suoza screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
