PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timmy Wesley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wesley has chosen Eminem - Go to Sleep as his entrance music. Timmy Wesley told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timmy Wesley!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wesley throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Foster counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Foster scores with a hook to the body. Wesley takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Wesley takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Wesley falls off balance throwing a combination
and Foster counters with a nice body shot.
Wesley uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Foster.
A slow jab from Foster misses its intended target.
Wesley misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Foster counters with a nice uppercut.

and Foster counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wesley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Foster.
Foster is looking to wear down Wesley with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

BOOM! Foster connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Foster tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Foster takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Marcus Foster.

letting Foster counter with a right hand.

Timmy Wesley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Wesley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wesley's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Foster connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wesley scrambles back to his feet.

Wesley is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wesley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Foster defends it easily.

Wesley has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Foster shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wesley as he jumps to the side.

Wesley has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Wesley there as he acknowledges the shot.

Timmy Wesley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Foster lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wesley misses with a left hand
and Foster connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Foster scores with the left hand. Wesley knows he should have avoided that one.

Wesley tries to sprawl but Foster drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Foster thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wesley's head.

Still in half guard, Foster seems content to control.
Foster uses his free foot to push down on Wesley's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wesley.
