Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arnold Drummond! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dana Hodges! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hodges has his takedown stuffed and Drummond counters with a low kick, right behind Hodges 's knee. Drummond scores with a nice right hand.
Drummond scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Drummond lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hodges takes a step back to recover. Hodges closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Drummond to the mat! Drummond manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drummond is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Drummond is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hodges wants to control from the top but Drummond keeps moving. Hodges stopping the sweep attempt from Drummond. Hodges must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Drummond is trying to control the position but Hodges postures up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Hodges trying to control the position from guard on top but Drummond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Arnold Drummond just wasn't active enough. Hodges throws a body kick the misses and Drummond counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hodges's knee momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hodges tries to clinch but fails miserably and Drummond counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hodges's knee momentarily. Hodges with a poor takedown and Drummond makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Drummond looks to land a combination. Hodges sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Hodges doesn't succeed with the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Arnold Drummond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dana Hodges. Hodges closes the distance looking to clinch and Drummond counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodges with a poor takedown and Drummond counters with a series of strikes. Hodges will be more careful next time no doubt. Drummond misses with a few strikes there.
Drummond cracks a nice hook into Hodges's ribs. Drummond swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hodges counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Drummond is pressing down on Hodges's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Drummond has control of Hodges's left arm, preventing Hodges from doing any damage. Drummond wants to get back to his feet but Hodges is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drummond looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hodges is one step ahead there. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Drummond holds on and takes a little breather. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Drummond tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Arnold Drummond dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Hodges tries to clinch but Drummond moves away and Drummond counters with a nice uppercut. Hodges thows a leg kick but Drummond checks it and Drummond counters with a series of strikes. Hodges will be more careful next time no doubt. Hodges gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Drummond counters with a good low kick that Hodges was not able to check. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hodges fails with a takedown attempt. Drummond punishes Hodges's body with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hodges takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Drummond connects with a leg kick. Hodges looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Hodges misses with a takedown attempt and Drummond counters with a solid body kick. Arnold Drummond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dana Hodges. Hodges on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Drummond. Drummond obviously looking to wear him down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hodges fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Drummond sprawls well initially but Hodges persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hodges not landing any meaningful shots this time. Drummond is trying to stand.
Drummond regains full guard. Nicely done. Drummond keeping moving, preventing Hodges from controlling successfully. Hodges working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodges works over Drummond with some ground and pound from guard. Hodges trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hodges looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hodges pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drummond is keeping the position for now. Hodges throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Drummond is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hodges darts in trying to clinch and Drummond counters with an outside leg kick.
Dana Hodges seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hodges gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Drummond counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Arnold Drummond dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Hodges throws a lazy head kick and Drummond counters with a thumping low kick. Hodges shoots and misses and Drummond counters with a slapping leg kick. Hodges with a poor takedown and Drummond counters with a leg kick. Drummond feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hodges's calf. Good leg kick by Drummond there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hodges misses with a takedown and Hodges takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Arnold Drummond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dana Hodges.

Arnold Drummond is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hodges takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Drummond lands with a thumping leg kick.

Hodges doesn't succeed with the takedown and Drummond counters with a straight right hand. Drummond scores with a sloppy right hand. Hodges should have avoided that one. Hodges takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Drummond is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodges darts in trying to clinch and Drummond counters with a low kick, right behind Hodges 's knee. An inside leg kick lands from Drummond. Drummond lands a body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hodges uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Drummond. Hodges shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Drummond counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Hodges closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hodges lands in his opponent's guard. Drummond is looking to stand up but Hodges isn't so interested in that idea.
And that's the end of the fight! Arnold Drummond showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Drummond, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
