Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilson's entrance music is Monster. A fine choice. Swanson has chosen Wherever I May Roam by Metallica as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karl Swanson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson with a lazy takedown attempt and Swanson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Swanson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Swanson connects with a couple of short punches. Swanson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Wilson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Swanson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Swanson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Swanson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wilson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Swanson is aware though and is defending well. Swanson is stalling in the full guard. It looks like Swanson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilson wants to sweep here but Swanson controlling him for the moment. Wilson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Swanson defends it easily. Wilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swanson is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Swanson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Wilson has his foot on Swanson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Swanson works his way back into a safe position though. Swanson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Swanson content to stall in guard here. Wilson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Swanson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Swanson wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving. Wilson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Swanson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Swanson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Wilson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wilson is breathing heavily. Swanson looking to pass the guard. Swanson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karl Swanson dominated that round. That's time! Wilson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The fighters circle momentarily. Swanson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. A looping hook to the body misses from Swanson. Wilson does a little dance to reset his feet. Swanson scores with a punch to the head. The fighters circling - Swanson throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Swanson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Swanson connects with a nice short shot to Wilson's temple. Swanson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Swanson is controlling the pace.

Swanson wants to free his trapped foot but Wilson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Swanson lands strikes from half guard. Wilson regains full guard. Nicely done. Wilson wants to get back to his feet but Swanson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Swanson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wilson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Swanson defends well. Swanson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wilson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Swanson has managed to get both his arms back between Wilson's legs - danger averted. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wilson wants to sweep here but Swanson controlling him for the moment. Swanson cracks Wilson with a solid left hand. Wilson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wilson tries to get to full guard but Swanson has control of the leg. Swanson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wilson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Karl Swanson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Swanson drives through with a takedown into Wilson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Swanson distracts Wilson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Swanson wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving. Wilson keeping full guard, as Swanson tries to pass. Swanson is working Wilson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Wilson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Swanson! Swanson tries to hold on but Wilson postures up. Swanson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Swanson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Swanson shrugs it off. Wilson throws some wild stikes that Swanson manages to avoid easily.
Wilson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Swanson tries to hold on but Wilson pushes him away. Wilson wants to control the pace but Swanson is squirming around nicely. Swanson tries to buck Wilson off but Wilson takes his back! Wilson has the hooks in. Swanson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Swanson is trying to stand back up. Swanson tries to escape but Wilson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Wilson wants to control the position but Swanson frees himself and scrambles - Wilson manages to regain control in side control.
Swanson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Swanson is trying to improve his position. Swanson is trying to escape the position but Wilson is controlling the position. Wilson prevents Swanson from escaping the position.

Wilson is looking to take a break and control but Swanson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Wilson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wilson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Swanson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wilson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Swanson tries to get to full guard but Wilson has control of the leg. James Wilson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Swanson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Swanson tries to kick Wilson off but Wilson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Wilson. Well Swanson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
