Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Edward!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Backman!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman misses with a few strikes there.
Edward misses with a body shot.
Edward is looking to clinch.
Backman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Edward lands with a cross.
Backman throws a poor cross that misses
and Edward counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Edward throws a low kick but Backman avoids it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Backman, as that shot connected.


It looks like Ryan Edward has been cut.

Backman tries to clinch up.
Backman throws a combination that misses
and Edward counters with a nice uppercut.
Edward misses with a right hand
and Edward takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Backman misses with a wild body shot.
Edward misses with a hook to the body
and Backman counters with a right hand to the body.
Edward blocks a jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Backman throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Edward counters with a thumping low kick.
Backman tries to clinch but Edward moves out of range.
Backman misses with a double jab
and Edward counters with an inside leg kick.
Ben Backman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Backman misses with a body shot
and Edward counters with a low kick, right behind Backman 's knee.
Edward lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Backman just misses with a punch to the body.
Backman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Edward swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Edward blocks a jab.
Backman lands a really nice looking cross but Edward seems unphased.
Backman throws a lazy uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Backman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Backman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Edward counters with a low kick, right behind Backman 's knee.

Edward connects with a body shot that sends Backman's belly button to the back.
Backman avoids the body shot from Edward.
Edward moves away from the strike by Backman.
Edward lands an overhand right.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
No joy there for Backman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Backman blocks a low kick nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Edward will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Edward tries to clinch up but Backman circles away and keeps his distance.

Backman takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Edward counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Backman looks to clinch
and Edward cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Edward counters with an outside leg kick.

and Edward counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Edward lands a nice looking body shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edward buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Backman is still on wobbly legs! Can Edward finish him?
Backman's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Edward creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Backman's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Backman drops to his knees and Edward pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
