Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Markov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Rizzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Markov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mario Rizzo!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rizzo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

You can see the frustration on Markov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rizzo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Markov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rizzo but great work by Markov.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rizzo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rizzo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Rizzo tries to get to full guard but Markov has control of the leg.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Markov is just content to waste time from the top position. Rizzo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Markov throws a strike but Rizzo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Markov has momentary wrist control but Rizzo slips an elbow through the middle.

Markov controls Rizzo momentarily but Rizzo frees himself.
Rizzo cracks Markov with a solid left hand.
Rizzo stands and throws Markov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

It looks like Ivan Markov has been cut.

Markov is looking to regain half guard here but Rizzo keeps moving and retains side control.
Rizzo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rizzo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Markov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rizzo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Markov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rizzo.

Markov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rizzo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rizzo slips a nice elbow through Markov's hands, connecting with Markov's forehead.

Rizzo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Markov is looking for a sweep. Rizzo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rizzo takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Markov pushes Rizzo off looking to stand but Rizzo dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rizzo is nestled in close to Markov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well Rizzo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
