Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Terry Nut! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose De Souza! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Souza drives through with a takedown into guard. De Souza content to stall in guard here. De Souza advances position into side control! De Souza trying to control the action but Nut is working from the bottom. De Souza lands an elbow. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. De Souza working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. De Souza trying to control the position but Nut is working away. De Souza in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Souza has knee on belly and moves into mount. De Souza controlling the pace for now. De Souza lands a big shot there that rocks Nut but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
De Souza working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. You get the feeling that Nut really doesn't like being in this position too much.
De Souza fails to move to back control. Nut wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.
Nut trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Souza moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nut has worked his arm free - good work by Nut!
De Souza controls the position. De Souza trying to control the action but Nut is working from the bottom. De Souza controls the position. Nut is pushing De Souza's head away, looking to escape. De Souza manages to hold on to the position though. De Souza is trying to get an arm triangle but Nut is defending well. De Souza is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nut's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nut is trying to escape and get back to his feet. De Souza advances nicely into full mount. Nut has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
De Souza working for a choke but Nut is defending well. De Souza trying to control momentarily.
I would not like to be Nut right now.
De Souza is working for a rear naked choke. Nut is not defending it well and De Souza has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Nut refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Nut's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jose De Souza!
