Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dre Tarver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Clay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dre Tarver! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tarver moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Tarver falls off balance throwing a combination
and Clay counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Clay. Clay passes Tarver's left leg - he's now in half guard. Clay is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tarver doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Clay. Clay is looking to take a break and control but Tarver is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Clay is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Clay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Tarver is trying to get back to full guard. Still in half guard, Clay seems content to control. Tarver looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nice strikes from Clay there. Clay landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarver actively working from the bottom here. Clay seems to be working for a kimura but Tarver defends the submission attempt. Tarver is pressing down on Clay's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Clay got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tarver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Clay has managed to get both his arms back between Tarver's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Clay throwing strikes but missing. Tarver has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Clay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Tarver looking for subs off his back but Clay has passed one foot through into half guard.
Clay is taking a breather. Tarver says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Clay prevents Tarver from improving his position. Clay is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tarver sees it coming and defends easily. Tarver looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. That's three minutes gone in the round. Clay is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tarver will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Tarver tries to buck Clay off but Clay is having none of it. Clay working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Tarver is trying to improve his position. Clay decides to take the fight back to the feet. Clay closes the distance and pushes Tarver back into the cage. Clay works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Tarver preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Clay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Clay manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Clay thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Clay is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Tarver is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Clay trying to control but Tarver is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tarver throws a combination that misses and Clay counters into the clinch. Nicely done. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Clay creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Clay jumps into guard, dragging Tarver to the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Tarver is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Clay is tapping! Great win for Tarver!
