Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jayk Taylor! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rubber Dummy! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Dummy is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Dummy wants to control but Taylor postures up. Dummy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Taylor is taking a breather. Dummy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Taylor seems to be looking for submissions.
Taylor decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dummy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Dummy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The fighters are battling for position here. Taylor manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Dummy trying to control but Taylor is working from the bottom. Dummy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Taylor swivels though and keeps the full guard. Taylor manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dummy on his heels. He'll look to pass Dummy's guard now, I'm sure. Taylor drops back looking for a leg! Dummy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dummy manages to kick Taylor off! Taylor jumps back into Dummy's guard. Dummy is looking for a triangle but Taylor pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Taylor jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Taylor sitting in guard here, content to control. Dummy working for a triangle but Taylor defends it easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Dummy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A close third round but Rubber Dummy just about did enough to take it. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Taylor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
