Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Eastman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Swanson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Eastman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eastman throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Swanson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Eastman lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Swanson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Swanson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Eastman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Eastman finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Eastman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Swanson moves away.
Eastman misses with a takedown
and Swanson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Swanson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Swanson throws a series of punches but Eastman moves out of range.
Eastman lands with a thumping leg kick.
Eastman moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Swanson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eastman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Swanson forces Eastman back against the cage and clinches.
A hook to the body from Swanson.
Swanson lands a shoulder strike.
Eastman blocks an uppercut.

Eastman wants the takedown. Swanson is fighting it off but Eastman persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Swanson's guard against the cage.

Eastman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Swanson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Swanson wants to sweep here but Eastman controlling him for the moment.

Swanson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Eastman is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Eastman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swanson keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Swanson wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swanson won't allow Eastman to pass to mount.
Eastman is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Eastman won't allow Swanson to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Eastman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Swanson misses with an uppercut.
Eastman throws a solid leg kick but Swanson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Eastman.
Swanson takes a swing at Eastman's ribcage but misses.
Swanson lands a nice shot that snaps Eastman's head back.
Swanson throws a lazy uppercut

and Eastman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Eastman is working for a kimura but Swanson is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are battling for position here. Swanson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Eastman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Swanson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Swanson has escaped and now he's on top!

Eastman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Eastman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Swanson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Eastman's guard.
Eastman wants to control but Swanson is keeping busy.

Eastman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Swanson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Swanson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Eastman controls Swanson momentarily but Swanson frees himself.
Eastman looking for a sweep. Not yet Eastman, not yet.

Eastman looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Swanson has picked Eastman up and slammed him! Eastman can't keep hold of the triangle and Swanson manages to pass to side control!

Swanson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Eastman is aware though and is defending well.

Swanson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Eastman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Swanson is breathing heavily.

Eastman wants to pass the guard but Swanson is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Eastman will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Eastman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Swanson.

Eastman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Eastman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Swanson wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Eastman wants to control the position but Swanson frees himself and scrambles - Eastman manages to regain control in side control.
Joe Swanson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Eastman swings around for an armbar but Swanson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Eastman's guard.
Eastman wants to sweep but no luck.

Eastman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Swanson escapes and throws Eastman's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Eastman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Swanson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Swanson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Eastman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Swanson.

Eastman is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swanson is trying to control the action in half guard but Eastman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Swanson prevents Eastman from improving his position.
Eastman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Swanson is working away from the top position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Eastman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Eastman looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Swanson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
James Eastman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Eastman.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Eastman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
