Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Redd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Callahan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Redd has chosen We Will Rock You as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Callahan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Redd! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redd with a lazy takedown attempt and Callahan counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Redd doesn't succeed with the takedown and Callahan counters with a left and a right that stings Redd. Redd shoots and misses and Callahan counters with a two punch combo. Thomas Callahan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Redd. Redd dives in and scores a takedown into Callahan's guard. Redd throwing strikes but missing. Callahan trying to control the position.
Redd is looking to work some ground and pound but Callahan has wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Callahan working a defensive guard here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Redd trying to control the position from guard on top but Callahan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Redd in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Redd missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Callahan looking to control.
Redd postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Callahan is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Redd, into his guard. Redd is looking for a triangle but Callahan pushes his legs off easily.
Callahan thows a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Callahan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Redd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Callahan has managed to get both his arms back between Redd's legs - danger averted. Callahan is pushing down on Redd's leg trying to pass to half guard. Redd is fighting to maintain full guard but Callahan has managed to sneak the leg through. Redd is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Callahan is keen to just control but Redd is a slippery customer. Callahan throwing shots but Redd is blocking nicely. Redd gets back to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Callahan throws and elbow that misses. Redd uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Callahan's guard. Nice move by Redd! Redd tries to free his leg and advance position but Callahan is retaining full guard. Redd trying to control the position from guard on top but Callahan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Callahan looking to control.
Redd keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Callahan's head. Redd is working Callahan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Redd stopping the sweep attempt from Callahan. Redd postures up.
Callahan is really struggling to control Redd but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Callahan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Redd is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Thomas Callahan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Redd misses with a takedown attempt and Redd takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Callahan ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Redd with a poor takedown and Callahan counters with a series of strikes. Redd will be more careful next time no doubt. Callahan thows a body shot but no joy. Redd has his takedown stuffed and Callahan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Redd looks gassed! Callahan fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Redd gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Callahan scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Callahan connects with a jab. Redd misses with a takedown attempt and Callahan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Callahan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Redd at a distance.
Callahan fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A clash of legs there as Redd blocks the low kick. Callahan closes the distance and lands a one-two. Redd shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Callahan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Redd moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Callahan's corner calls for a 1-2. Callahan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Callahan scores with a shot to the body.
Jab, jab by Callahan - just one landing. Callahan punishes Redd's body with a nice straight punch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Callahan looks to score with a jab to the body but Redd is just out of range. Redd tries to move into range but Callahan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Callahan connects with a body shot. Redd misses with a takedown and Callahan counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jab by Callahan.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. A jab from Callahan finds it's way through Redd's defenses. Callahan is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Callahan scores with a shot to the body.
Callahan sizes up Redd with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Redd takes a shot right to the bread basket. Callahan lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That kick from Callahan tenderised Redd's leg. Redd is trying to keep his angry face on. Jake Redd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Callahan swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Redd. Redd gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Callahan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Callahan darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. A punch lands to the side of Redd 's head but he takes it in his stride. Callahan jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Callahan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Redd takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. This has been an exciting period of action! Callahan throws a chopping leg kick but Redd manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Redd misses with a takedown attempt and Callahan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Redd gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Callahan throws a low kick but it's checked well by Redd. Redd has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Callahan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Callahan. Callahan throws a chopping leg kick but Redd manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Callahan lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. A jab from Callahan does it's job there. Callahan connects with a body shot. Callahan throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Jab, jab by Callahan - just one landing. Thomas Callahan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Callahan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Callahan duly obliges. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Callahan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Redd has time to react. Redd with a lazy takedown attempt and Redd takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Redd gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Callahan feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Redds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Redd checks a leg kick. Callahan ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Redd shoots and misses and Callahan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A clash of legs there as Redd blocks the low kick. Callahan throws a shot to the body.
Callahan tests Redd's chin there with a solid looking shot. Redd gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Callahan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Redd is breathing heavily. Callahan scores with a one two! Redd had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Redd shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Callahan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Thomas Callahan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Redd. Callahan connects with a body shot. Callahan scores with a hook to the body. Redd takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Callahan throws a combination. Redd tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Redd with a lazy takedown attempt and Callahan counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Callahan dips to his left and cracks Redd with an uppercut! Redd avoids a low kick by using good footwork. A low kick from Callahan is predictable there so Redd counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Callahan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Redd scoring with punches to the head and body. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Callahan is on top in guard.
Callahan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Redd keeping moving, preventing Callahan from controlling successfully. Callahan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Redd has an active guard here but Callahan has managed to pass into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Callahan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Callahan is thwarting Redd's attempts to control the position. Redd is trying to get back to full guard. Callahan scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Redd blocking the ground and pound attempt from Callahan. Callahan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Callahan is nestled in close to Redd, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Callahan seems to be working for a kimura but Redd defends the submission attempt. Callahan is figuring out what he wants to do next. Redd moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Redd is trying to keep Callahan in close.
Redd has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Callahan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Callahan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Redd has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Callahan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Redd. Callahan looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Redd is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Callahan working the ground and pound from side control. Redd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Callahan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Callahan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Redd is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Redd is working to avoid the ground and pound but Callahan connects with a decent elbow. Redd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Callahan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Redd manages to work his way to half guard, despite Callahan's best efforts. Callahan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Redd's head. Redd is not content to let Callahan control the position. Redd is trying to maintain the position but Callahan is very close to passing his half guard. Callahan wants to work for an arm triangle but Redd is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Thomas Callahan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Redd actively working from the bottom here. Redd actively working from the bottom here. Redd looking for submissions off his back. Callahan passes the guard and advances to mount! Redd is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jake Redd has got the better of the ground game so far. Callahan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Redd is looking to improve his position but Callahan isn't that keen on the idea. Callahan looking to control but Redd is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Redd is looking to get to half guard. Callahan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Redd can do to turn this around? Callahan trying to control but he's not successful this time. Callahan controlling his opponent. Callahan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Callahan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Callahan throws an overhand right that lands on Redd's shoulder, as Redd tries to avoid the shot. Thomas Callahan is winning the standup battle so far. Redd fails with the takedown and Callahan counters with a stiff right hand.
