Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheldon Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia has chosen Bleed It Out as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lawler manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Maia looking to sit in guard and control but Lawler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Maia is looking for a triangle but Lawler pushes his legs off easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Maia connects with a nice short shot to Lawler's temple.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lawler.
Lawler is fighting off a takedown attempt but Maia is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lawler to the mat. Lawler regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Maia postures up in Lawler's guard and throws a big left but Lawler blocks it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maia is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lawler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Lawler parries the strikes from Maia easily there. Maia is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lawler to escape.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Lawler throws out a loose jab but Maia uses good head movement to avoid it.
