Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Lobe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Shagwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shagwell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Basketball - Get Your Groove Back kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Lobe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Shagwell! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lobe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Shagwell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shagwell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lobe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shagwell looking for a guillotine here but Lobe defends easily.
Shagwell looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lobe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shagwell is keeping the position for now. Shagwell wants to stand but Lobe is controlling the position. Lobe is pushing down on Shagwell's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shagwell is fighting to maintain full guard but Lobe has managed to sneak the leg through. Lobe seems to be working for a kimura but Shagwell defends the submission attempt. Shagwell tries to get to full guard but Lobe has control of the leg. Shagwell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lobe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lobe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shagwell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lobe. Lobe is breathing heavily. Lobe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shagwell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Lobe is thwarting Shagwell's attempts to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shagwell is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lobe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lobe's back! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Shagwell has good solid back control here. Lobe tries to roll but Shagwell sticks to his back.
Shagwell is looking for the choke from the back position but Lobe is controlling his hands well. Shagwell trying to control momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lobe defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

Shagwell frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Shagwell is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lobe is surviving well by controlling Shagwell's body position as best he can. Lobe bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lobe thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lobe trying to control the position from guard on top but Shagwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lobe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Lobe pushes down on Shagwell's leg and manages to get into half guard. Lobe works his way into side control. Shagwell tries to improve position but can't. Shagwell is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Lobe has knee on belly and moves into mount. Lobe has control of Shagwell's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shagwell regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lobe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Lobe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lobe fails to advance to Shagwell's back. Shagwell tries to control the position but Lobe now has his back.

Lobe is persistently looking for the submission but Shagwell is defending it well.
Shagwell tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Lobe moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Shagwell has worked his arm free - good work by Shagwell!
This has been an exciting period of action! Shagwell is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Lobe tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shagwell can't do much from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Lobe dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Lobe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shagwell is fending him off so far but Lobe persists. Nope, Shagwell circles away and we're back to standing. Lobe tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shagwell swivels and escapes. Lobe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Lobe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horrible takedown by Lobe or perhaps it was just good defense by Shagwell which made him look bad. Lobe fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shagwell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lobe keeping moving, preventing Shagwell from controlling successfully. Shagwell wants to pass the guard but Lobe is keeping the position. Lobe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shagwell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Lobe is tightening it up a little... Shagwell has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Shagwell reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Shagwell taps out! nice BJJ there by Lobe!
