Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Knut Beissner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Brookins!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brookins pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Beissner pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Beissner throws a head kick that misses.

Brookins closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brookins lands in his opponent's guard.
Beissner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brookins's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beissner postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Beissner thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Beissner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Beissner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Brookins trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Brookins can't keep his opponent in guard - Beissner advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Brookins is trying to get back to full guard.
Beissner is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Beissner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brookins keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Beissner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Brookins is trying to get back to full guard.

Beissner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brookins can do anything to dispel that myth.

Beissner is looking to take a break and control but Brookins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Knut Beissner.
Beissner tries to land a front kick but Brookins steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Beissner throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Beissner swings for the body but Brookins moves out of range.
Beissner throws a sloppy head kick and Brookins moves out of range easily.
Brookins motions for Beissner to come forward. Brookins throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Brookins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Beissner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Beissner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brookins!

Beissner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Beissner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
BOOM! Beissner connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Beissner fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Beissner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Brookins can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Knut Beissner dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Beissner throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

and Brookins counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Beissner!
Beissner is trying to escape the mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brookins tries to control but Beissner wriggling away.

Brookins swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Beissner is now in Brookins's guard. A big mistake from Brookins there, giving up the dominant position!
Brookins has momentary wrist control but Beissner slips an elbow through the middle.
Knut Beissner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Beissner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Beissner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Beissner thows a huge punch but Brookins dodges it nicely.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Knut Beissner has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Beissner throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Brookins throws a sloppy head kick
and Beissner counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Beissner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Beissner tries a knee to the head but Brookins blocks it.

Beissner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Brookins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Beissner manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Beissner is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Brookins is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
