PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clive Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gamba Mugabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gamba Mugabe!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mugabe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mugabe slips under a jab.
Simmons swings widly with a right hand

and Mugabe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Simmons can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mugabe controls the pace.
Mugabe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Simmons works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Simmons is trying to control the position but Mugabe postures up.
Simmons wants to sweep here but Mugabe controlling him for the moment.
Mugabe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mugabe won't allow Simmons to sweep him here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Mugabe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mugabe rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mugabe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Mugabe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mugabe misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Simmons is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Simmons takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mugabe looks up at the clock and then as Simmons takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mugabe smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mugabe wants to control but Simmons is keeping him busy.
Mugabe tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Mugabe is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Simmons looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mugabe gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Simmons is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mugabe lets go of the hold and Simmons can pop his arm back in it's socket.
