The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almanez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Erectus counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Erectus.
Almanez has his hands on Erectus's head, controlling the position.
Erectus stays in close to Almanez's body and controls the position.
Erectus stopping the sweep attempt from Almanez.
Almanez has control of Erectus's left arm, preventing Erectus from doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Erectus gets the takedown into side control.
Almanez is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Erectus wants to control but Almanez is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Erectus might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Almanez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Erectus is looking to take a break and control but Almanez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Erectus goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Almanez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Erectus but great work by Almanez.
Almanez has hold of Erectus's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Erectus tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Almanez cranks the arm and Erectus screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Erectus, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
