Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Scherbakov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Blades!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scherbakov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Blades pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Blades with a poor takedown
and Scherbakov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scherbakov not doing much here.
Blades trying to control but Scherbakov postures up.
Scherbakov is taking a breather. Blades says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Scherbakov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Alexander Scherbakov wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Blades closes the distance but Scherbakov moves to the side
and Scherbakov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Blades's guard now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Scherbakov postures up.
Blades is trying to hold Scherbakov in close to prevent damage but Scherbakov has managed to pass into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Scherbakov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Scherbakov in particular looking to stall.
Scherbakov is trying for a kimura here. Blades looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Scherbakov wins by kimura!
