Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thurston Unger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Burroughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burroughs has chosen Simple Man By Shinedown as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thurston Unger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Burroughs! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Unger is looking to chop away at Burroughs's legs. Unger misses the shot to the body. Unger tries to clinch but fails miserably and Burroughs counters with an inside leg kick. Unger lands a nice shot to the body.
Unger misses with a jab, cross combination.
Unger throws a right and a left that both miss. Burroughs on the wrong end of a nice jab. Unger tries to clinch up and Burroughs counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Burroughs drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burroughs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Burroughs looking to pass the guard. Unger pushes Burroughs off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Unger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Burroughs. Unger slips under a jab. Unger waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Burroughs. Burroughs misses with a series of wild punches.
Unger is looking to chop away at Burroughs's legs. Unger throws a leg kick and Burroughs counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Thurston Unger has been cut. Burroughs manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Unger on his heels. He'll look to pass Unger's guard now, I'm sure. Unger on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Unger tries to get out of the position. Burroughs gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Burroughs closes this distance looking for a takedown but Unger circles away. A lazy left from Unger finds it's target. Burroughs moves into the clinch successfully.
Burroughs misses with a short punch on the inside. Unger is trying to break the clinch but Burroughs has him pressed against the cage. Unger misses with some punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Unger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Burroughs on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
It looks like John Burroughs has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Unger leaves Burroughs with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Burroughs misses with a leg kick. Unger looks to land a left hand but Burroughs moved out of range nicely. Unger stalks Burroughs and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Burroughs's face. Burroughs staggers backwards, shaken. Unger throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. A low kick from Unger is predictable there and Burroughs counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Unger controls Burroughs momentarily but Burroughs frees himself. Burroughs stays in close to Unger's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burroughs decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Unger, up you get! Unger closes the distance looking to clinch and Burroughs counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Unger's guard now. Unger is trying to keep Burroughs in close.
Unger keeping moving, preventing Burroughs from controlling successfully. Unger can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Burroughs controls the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Unger keeping moving, preventing Burroughs from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Burroughs. Burroughs scores with a jab. Unger acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Unger looks to score with a jab to the body but Burroughs is just out of range. Donk. Burroughs catches Unger right on the button with a cross. Burroughs looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Unger! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Unger wants to control but Burroughs is having none of it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Burroughs lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Burroughs dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Back to the action!
Burroughs drives through and clinches with Unger against the cage.
Burroughs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Unger swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Burroughs throws a combination that misses and Unger counters with a lovely straight right hand! Unger misses the body punch and Burroughs counters with a left and a right that stings Unger. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A low kick from Unger is predictable there and Burroughs counters with a nice double leg into side control. Unger won't be happy with that. The referee asks Burroughs politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Burroughs prefers to stall for the moment though. Burroughs creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Unger sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. A lull in the action here as Burroughs stalls from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Burroughs was stalling too much, according to the referee. Unger throws a body punch but Burroughs moves out of range. Thurston Unger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Unger bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Burroughs's head. Burroughs rushes Unger and presses him up against the cage. Burroughs has had enough of the clinch but Unger keeps him there for the moment. Unger lands a body shot. Burroughs is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Unger wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Burroughs pushes Unger back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Unger is looking to break free of the clinch but Burroughs has double underhooks. Unger works on Burroughs's body with a couple of short punches. Unger lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Burroughs backwards. Burroughs is breathing heavily. Unger manages to break the clinch.
Unger scores with a head kick. Burroughs tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Unger drops Burroughs with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Burroughs looks back up at him and smiles so Unger waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Burroughs fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Unger sprawls well initially but Burroughs persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Unger regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burroughs wants to stand but Unger has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Unger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Burroughs is one step ahead there. Burroughs decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Unger, up you get! Left hook, right uppercut from Unger.
That has opened up John Burroughs's cut even more. Unger throws a lazy head kick so Burroughs counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burroughs is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Burroughs decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Burroughs swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Unger is working an open guard so Burroughs takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Burroughs will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Unger scores with a decent looking hook. Unger's corner calls for a 1-2. Unger obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Burroughs with a nice cross. Burroughs has taken the fight to the clinch.
Burroughs tries to stall but Unger uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Burroughs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Unger misses the shot to the body. Unger paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
The cut above John Burroughs's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Unger pivots, looking for a leg kick but Burroughs is out of range and Unger settles back down. Burroughs lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Unger circles away quickly and effectively. Unger fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thurston Unger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Unger throws a lazy right hand but Burroughs sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Unger looks to clinch and Burroughs counters with a takedown into side control. The referee asks Burroughs politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Burroughs prefers to stall for the moment though. Burroughs stands up and beckons Unger to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burroughs slips under a jab. Unger throws a lazy uppercut
and Burroughs counters with a two punch combo. A looping hook to the body misses from Burroughs. Unger does a little dance to reset his feet. Burroughs takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. A lazy body kick from Unger and Burroughs counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Burroughs lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Burroughs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Unger seems a little lost for a moment, as Burroughs dominates the positioning. Burroughs cracks Unger with a big elbow. Unger is letting Burroughs control him for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burroughs trying to control the action but Unger is working from the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burroughs stands up. Thurston Unger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Burroughs cracks Unger with a right hand to the side of the head. John Burroughs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Burroughs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight! John Burroughs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Burroughs winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
