Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Zambidis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Takanori Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zambidis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gomi counters with a three punch combo that has Zambidis backing up. Zambidis nods at Gomi to acknowledge the strikes.
Zambidis tries to clinch but Gomi moves away
and Gomi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gomi falls off balance throwing a combination
and Zambidis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Zambidis.
Zambidis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gomi keeping moving, preventing Zambidis from controlling successfully.
Gomi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gomi pulls Zambidis in to control the position.
Zambidis trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mike Zambidis just wasn't active enough.
Gomi feints a jab promting Zambidis to slip. Gomi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Zambidis slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zambidis fails with the takedown
and Gomi counters with a one-two to the body.
Zambidis takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gomi throws a nice looking combination but Zambidis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Zambidis tries for a takedown but Gomi circles away easily
and Gomi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Zambidis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zambidis dodges the punch combination from Gomi.
Zambidis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gomi counters with a two punch combo.
Zambidis is breathing heavily.
Gomi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Zambidis backs up against the cage.
A right-left combo lands from Gomi.
Gomi lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Zambidis is rocked!
Gomi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gomi throws a series of punches but Zambidis moves out of range.
Gomi throws a combination that misses
and Zambidis counters with a head kick. That will keep Gomi thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Gomi goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Oh Zambidis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gomi throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gomi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zambidis finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Gomi's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Zambidis falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takanori Gomi!
