The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez lands with a nice body punch.
Smith closes the distance but Melendez moves to the side
and Melendez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Melendez throws a leg kick
and Smith makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Some wild striking there from Melendez.
Melendez throws a leg kick that is checked
and Smith counters with a body kick that stops Melendez in his tracks momentarily.
No joy there for Melendez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Melendez counters with an outside leg kick.

Melendez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Smith looks gassed!
Smith tries for a takedown but Melendez circles away easily
letting Melendez counter with a right hand.
Dante Melendez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
An inside leg kick lands from Melendez.
Melendez pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Smith back to the cage. Melendez follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Melendez lands a jab.
Smith is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Melendez fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Smith out cold! Brutal finish!
