The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Pierre, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pierre's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Pierre is retaining full guard.
Pierre wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling him.
Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Pierre is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pierre manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Pierre's guard.
Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gracie passes Pierre's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pierre is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracie.
Gracie maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pierre could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gracie has cracked it and Pierre is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gracie!
