Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Austin Aries! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Uri! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Uri tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aries swivels and escapes. Aries bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Uri sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Uri has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aries is working away from the top position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aries looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Uri moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Uri pushes a forearm under Aries's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Aries is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sam Uri!
